The origin

How this work
found her

Alycia was born in New York to a second-generation Puerto Rican family, and had been living with painful periods since her early teens.

At 21 she went through an abortion, and afterwards found her partner offered no support — a moment she has spoken about publicly as the turning point. She spent roughly the following year numbing herself.

At 22, she recognised she needed to reconnect with herself. She began connecting with her womb, working through the emotional layer, and using natural remedies to restore hormonal balance.

At 23 she enrolled in nutrition school to become a health coach. Embracing Cycles grew from there — a practice founded on indigenous wisdom, built to bring greater representation of women of colour into wellness, and guided by a belief that simplicity is medicine.

On this section This is Alycia's own account, published by her in an interview with Brainz Magazine. It is reproduced here in her framing and nothing has been added to it.
